Wire Crimps The DC wire that goes from the power adapter to your laptop can be easily caught under desks, chairs and assorted heavy furniture. Since it is typically a lot thinner than the power cord it is prone to breaks and electrical shorts. This fault is not always easy to spot as the small LED light on the power adapter may still come on, indicating power is flowing to the laptop, when if fact it is not. Overheating A Toshiba power adapter will be warm to the touch under normal use. If it gets very hot it is time to unplug and let it cool down. Overheating can pose a serious hazard, even leading to electrical fires in the most extreme cases. If your power adapter is prone to overheating, get a replacement or have it serviced by a qualified technician. Using The Wrong Power Adapter If you're like most people you probably have quite a few electronic gadgets, each with its own power adapter. After a while they all start to look the same.
